01 — Context

A family manufacturer with a catalogue the size of a warehouse

Buchner Manufacturing has been making and distributing building products for Canadian contractors and homeowners since 1979. Gutters, soffit, fascia, siding, roofing, coil, gutter machines, windows and doors: the catalogue runs to more than 6,000 products, many of them in dozens of colours and profiles.

A catalogue that size is a lot of work for a website. Buchner's product information already lived in its SYSPRO ERP, and the business needed a site that could show all of it, help homeowners picture finished projects, and present a brand that looked as current as the products.

Buchner asked us to fix all three at once: a website design that feels as premium as the materials, a custom build that pulls the full catalogue straight from the ERP, and a brand refresh to tie it together.

02 — Brand

A modernized brand with nearly half a century behind it

We kept what customers already recognized, the red B mark, and rebuilt everything around it. A classic, widely spaced serif gives headlines like "The Pinnacle of Building" the confidence of a premium supplier, while a clean sans serif keeps product details easy to scan. Red is now an accent rather than a wall of colour, so photography of real homes can do the selling.

The result reads as proudly Canadian and quietly expensive, which is exactly how Buchner wants contractors and homeowners to think about its products. It is the same brand identity thinking we bring to every rebrand: keep the equity, lose the dated details.

03 — Catalogue

6,000+ products, straight from the ERP

The heart of the project is the product catalogue. Instead of copying products into the website by hand, we integrated the site with Buchner's SYSPRO ERP, so every product, profile and colour comes from the system the business already runs on. When the team updates something in SYSPRO, the website follows.

On the front end, that data becomes a catalogue organized the way people actually shop for building products: by category first (gutters and accessories, hangers and outlets, soffit, fascia, siding, roofing, coil, gutter machines, windows and doors, brakes), then by product and colour. Contractors get a Pro Login and a fast route to a quote; homeowners get plain-language descriptions of what each product does for their home.

Integrations like this are where a custom-built website earns its keep. We've written more about connecting business systems to a site in how integrations make a new website easier to run.

04 — Inspiration

Helping homeowners see what's possible

Building products are hard to choose from a swatch. So the site gives people finished projects to look at: a Project Gallery of real homes, captioned with the exact siding, soffit, fascia and roofing used, and a Colour Matrix that lets visitors compare finishes side by side.

Content does the rest. Buchner's new Training Centre gets its own section, with hands-on courses for installers, and product launches like Mitten's true black vinyl siding get editorial space instead of a line in a price list.
