01 — Context

A new ranch with proven bloodlines

Steel Rollin’ Ranch breeds and raises Quarter Horses in Whitesboro, in North Texas. The ranch is built on carefully selected bloodlines, patient horsemanship and doing things the right way, and its owners wanted a brand that felt as considered as their horses.

The challenge was to look unmistakably western without falling back on tired clichés. We developed the brand identity through two concept directions, and the ranch chose New West Heritage: modern, confident and rooted in the working ranch.

02 — The mark

An SR monogram with a spur in its stride

The identity centres on a custom monogram that joins the S and R into one continuous, fluid stroke. A spur rowel extends from the lower stroke, a distinctly western detail that keeps the mark from feeling overly traditional.

A strong, condensed wordmark gives the identity structure and presence, and the monogram sits in an irregular badge shape that recalls leather patches and livestock brands. The system scales from a tiny badge to wide signage and works on apparel, print and digital.

We avoided a literal horse, for reasons we explain in why literal logo marks fall short.

03 — Colour

Red earth, saddle leather and big Texas sky

The palette is inspired by red earth, aged leather and the clarity of the modern West. Parchment provides the foundation. Clay, Rowel, High Plains and Buckskin bring warmth, sunlight and that wide blue sky, while Suede, Burnished, Oxblood, Prairie, Denim and Hickory add depth for print, signage and apparel.

04 — Voice

Built on heart, raised with purpose

The brand’s voice is as plain-spoken as a good ranch hand: proudly raising the next generation of world-class Quarter Horses, built on heart and raised with purpose. It gives the ranch a consistent way to talk to buyers, breeders and visitors.
