01 — Context

Making the case for a new media company

Tao Media is a subdivision of Tao Group in New York, created to produce niche media content about the group's restaurants, venues, events and owned personalities. The team had an internal initiative to expand the business and open up new opportunities within the Tao ecosystem, and they needed a piece that could make that case clearly.

They came to us for business development brochure design: a printed booklet that would explain what Tao Media is, show what successful media companies have done, and lay out what Tao Media could become. The audience was internal decision-makers and partners, people who know hospitality well but needed to see the media opportunity laid out.

Our answer was a strategic, editorial brochure that reads like a pitch, page by page.

02 — Structure

A brochure that builds an argument

We organized the content as a sequence of spreads, each answering the next question a reader would ask.

The opening spread introduces Tao Media as "a modern-day media company" and lists its raw material with simple line icons: events, entertainers, talent, personalities, audiences and venues. Facing it, "Start with content" shows how audio, video and text could be distributed through streaming and publishing partners, organized in a clear three-column chart.

Next, "Grow your reach" looks at proven models. One page explains Disney's franchise-first approach, with an archival diagram and a short case study. The facing page, "The anatomy of Vice," breaks a media brand down by channel, from TV and mobile to print, creative, online and podcast, in a tidy grid of logos.

The brochure then turns inward with "What could Tao Media look like?" and a chart of potential audio, video and text properties. By the time readers reach it, they have seen the opportunity and the precedent, so the proposal feels like the logical next step.

03 — Design

Designed to feel like a night out

Tao Group is known for nightlife and entertainment, so the brochure is designed to feel at home in that world. Every page sits on a deep midnight navy, with white type and crisp line icons. Small deep red tabs mark the top of each spread and label the rows of each chart, a consistent accent that helps readers navigate.

Headlines are set in a bold, high-contrast serif that feels editorial and confident, paired with a clean sans serif for body copy. Photography is dramatic and atmospheric: a concert crowd with hands raised on the cover, a fireworks-lit castle for the Disney story, and a starry sky over a forest for the forward-looking final spread.

The result is a piece of corporate communication that feels as polished as the brand behind it. For more media and hospitality work, see our pitch decks for Si Media and Rémy Cointreau, or learn more about our print design.
